    Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust

    The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT) hosts the CHRP Project Office and supports the coordination and implementation of project activities. MWCT works closely with communities and project partners to strengthen conservation, research, and sustainable development across Maasai community lands and landscapes of the Chyulu Hills within the world-renowned Amboseli–Tsavo Ecosystem.

     

     


     

  2. Big Life Foundation
     

    Big Life Foundation Logo


    Big Life Foundation plays a key role in wildlife protection and landscape conservation. The organization supports ranger operations, community conservation programs, and efforts to reduce human–wildlife conflict across the Chyulu–Amboseli landscape.

  1. Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)

    The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is the national government agency responsible for managing wildlife and protected areas in Kenya. Within the CHRP landscape, KWS manages Chyulu Hills National Park and Tsavo National Park to supports wildlife protection, ecosystem monitoring, and wildlife law enforcement. 

     

     


     

  2. Kenya Forest Service (KFS)

    The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a governmental government agency responsible for the management and protection of Kenya’s public forests, including Kibwezi Forest Reserve, which lies within the project area. Within the project area, KFS protect forest resources, prevent illegal logging, and promote sustainable forest management practices that contribute to climate change mitigation.

  
 

 

Community organization 

Local Maasai communities are central partners in the Chyulu Hills REDD+ Carbon Project. The project works closely with the following group ranches:

  1. Mbirikani Group Ranch
  2. Rombo Group Ranch
  3. Kuku Group Ranch
  4. Kuku A Group Ranch
  5. Chyullu East Conservation Community-Based Organization (CBO) -  Represents the Kamba communities located within the eastern portion of the Chyulu Hills REDD+ Project area.
